Day 3 of reviving a dried sourdough starter. We give the active starter its first feeding, and look for it to double (or more!) in size for Day 4.
Day 2 of reviving a dried sourdough starter. It’s boring. Best case: 24 hours of just watching and waiting. Worst case: You have to stir some water into it.
Day one with your Alaskan Sourdough Starter: Mix the dry packet with water and flour. Then you leave it sitting on the kitchen counter. There’s video!
I had no idea there was such a thing as a sourdough library, but there is! Found in Belgium, home of some of the finest fermentation on earth (Belgian beer, I’m talking about Belgian beer), it seems only fitting. Visit the Atlas Obscura article here!
